• [4 June 2026] Long Night of Science in Augsburg:
  The Wiss-KKI project participated in Augsburg’s Long Night of Science at the city hall. At our interactive stand, visitors could learn about the project, discuss current research findings, and try out different communicative AI prototypes developed for science communication. The event offered valuable opportunities to exchange perspectives with members of the public and gather initial feedback on how different chatbot designs are perceived and evaluated.
• [22–23 June 2026] Project Meeting in Augsburg:
  The Wiss-KKI project team met in Augsburg to review the progress of the work packages and coordinate the final phase of the project. The meeting focused particularly on the further development of the communicative AI prototypes, the design of the planned evaluation studies, ongoing publications, and preparations for the concluding symposium in November 2026. The two-day meeting provided an opportunity to align the remaining activities across the participating institutions and discuss the next steps toward completing the project.
• [November 2025] Stakeholder Board Meeting:
  The second stakeholder board meeting focused on two main components. First, status updates were provided for all work packages, outlining progress, challenges, and next steps. Second, stakeholders engaged in an in-depth discussion on the conceptual development of the planned tool. This included reflections on its intended functionalities, potential use cases, as well as key opportunities and risks, particularly regarding target groups, applicability, and future development.

  Dr Daniel Silva Luna presented the results of Work Package 1 (WP1) of the Wiss-KKI project at the PCST 2025 conference (Public Communication of Science and Technology) in Aberdeen, Scotland. The talk was titled „Navigating the Transition to ComAI-Driven Science Communication: A Quality Framework“, and outlined key insights from the project’s first phase, focusing on emerging standards for high-quality science communication using communicative AI systems.
• [February 2025] Stakeholder Board Meeting:
  Our first stakeholder board meeting brought together researchers, communicators, and members of the public to discuss the evolving role of ComAI in science communication. Key topics included public trust in ComAI-generated science content, media framings of ComAI, and strategies for ensuring quality in ComAI-assisted science communication.
• [7 May 2024] Presentation to Funders from BMBF:
  Professor Dr. Helena Bilandzic delivered a presentation at the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) in Berlin, outlining the various work packages and the progress achieved in the initial months of the project. The presentation was well received and marked a successful engagement with the funders.
• [7 March 2024] Project Launch – Kick-off Meeting:
  The Wiss-KKI project (Wissenschaftskommunikation mit und über Kommunikative Künstliche Intelligenz / Science Communication with and about Communicative Artificial Intelligence) officially launched with a virtual kick-off meeting. This was the first time the entire team met, connecting via Zoom to introduce themselves and discuss the project’s objectives. The meeting set a strong foundation for collaboration, making for an engaging and productive start.
